]]> The United Auto Workers (UAW) began a strike on September 15 against the big three manufacturers, GM, Ford, and JEEP, and has been going on for two weeks. 9/15 The first plants to cease operation were GM’s Missouri plant, Ford’s Michigan plant, and JEEP’s Ohio plant. Afterwards, the three companies’ factories located throughout the country joined in solidarity with the strike, and as of 9/22, 38 factories in 20 states were on strike

According to industry analysis, the strike’s impact on the supply chain is still minimal. However, as it is spreading nationwide, there is a risk that if the auto parts production plants related to the three companies are completely shut down, the inventory of finished cars and parts materials will increase rapidly, disrupting the supply chain.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Biden showed pro-union action by visiting the UAW strike site in progress near the GM logistics center on 9/26 local time and participating in a picket protest (The Loadstar 2023/9/26)
